First Visit to the State Legislature
We have been inviting the legislators to competition for a couple of months now and were invited down by Senator Rosenbaum. That was quite an experience! They set us up right outside the House of Representatives. The legislators were chasing their counter parts down the halls with the robot but I don’t think anyone had as much fun as the lobbyists. While we were there, Boy Scouts, visitors to the Capital, and capital security all took turns driving the robot and learning about FIRST from us.
In the end they presented the team to the House of Representatives. It was really something

February 21, 2011 Senator Merkley Visit
Senator Merkley made a visit to Cleveland High School and we were one of the teams that supported the Pigmice. There was a large continent of media and and people interested in making their thoughts about education known to the senator. Deb Mumm-hill spoke for FIRST and the Pigmice spoke for the students. Deb called and we answered. GO FIRST!
December 2010 – Fund Raiser LAN Party for FRC Team 2576
They not only lost where they meet and everything they had, they also lost all of their sponsors.
Largest earthquake in history hits Chile. An Earthquake 500 times the strength of the earthquake that hit Haiti wiped out FRC Team 2576 and we sent out the call for the FIRST community to do what they could to help. We held a LAN party fundraiser to help them get the money they needed to compete. Thanks Columbia Sportswear for donating prizes!
November – 2010
Just heard about the terrible fire in Israel and the devastation to the Israeli
FRC Team 2214 was totally burned out by the largest wildfire in the Mid East in modern history.
FRC team 2214 from Yemin Orde. 500 orphans from 16 countries make their home in the village of Yemin Orde and they lost everything but the clothes on their backs when a wild fire raced through their village. We did our best to let the FIRST community know about their plight by sending out emails to all local FIRST teams and our supporters along with pictures of the devastation. You will also find their story on the “Teams We Support” page.
OMSI Robot Showcase – 2010

Many people got to see what FIRST was all about at the OMSI Robot Showcase. FRC Team 1432 was proud to be one of the participating teams sharing the news. All aspects of the FIRST program were represented and a great time was had by all.
We had a little trouble changing the color of our bumpers as the school only let us have the ones attached to the robot which luckily for us were the blue ones. Every time we were on the red alliance we would have to frantically Duct tape them with red tape and then pull off the tape when we were on the Blue alliance. It was awesome and exciting and never a dull moment!

FRC Team 1432 was one of 5 FIRST teams invited to share the message of FIRST with the High Tech community participating in Intel’s October Best Regional High – Tech Manufacturing Conference and Expo.

In the Pit at OMSI Showcase – Making Red Bumpers out of Blue
When we got put out of Franklin High School they only let us take the blue bumpers on the robot. So when we were on the red team at OMSI we had to make a quick change with duct red tape. Inspiration!
Fund Raising for Teams 2214 and 2576
StarCraft for a cause
December 27 -28 LAN party fund raiser for Chilean team 276 and Israeli team 2214 at Reedwood Friends Church. It was a success and we learned a lot.
